This website will document and illustrate the life of Hans Dokkum, my uncle, who lived in Batavia , in the former Dutch colony Indonesia, from 1928 till 1938. He worked for the press agency Aneta which was owned by the legendary - no exaggeration here- Dominique W. Berretty. Hans was Berretty's secretary. When Berretty died in in 1934 Hans became director of Aneta. In 1935 he started his own press agency. A large collection of letters and photo's have been preserved and this enables me to reconstruct his life in Indonesia. I have found a number of people who have known him, but it goes without saying that most people have died. In 1997 I started my investagations.
